• Avène Hydrance Optimale

Skincare products are still probably my favourite products to receive in pressdrops.  I've said this before so it's probably so worn out on here already. For someone like me who has dry and sensitive skin, when you get sent new products from the Hydrance OPTIMALE range from Avène to test out - you jump out of your skin in excitement.
     Avène Hydration OPTIMALE Hydrating Serum
This three step process starts with a spray of the Avène Thermal Spring Water (RSP for 150ml R149.95) to soothe your skin and start the hydrating process. The Thermal Spring Water is an ingredient the brand is known for. It originates as pure rain water mixed with sea-spray in mineral salts, then travels through thCévennes Mountains in Avène, France. While making this journey it is infused with trace elements and silicates which helps to soothe, soften and calm skin.

Next step in the process is to intensify hydration by applying the Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum (RSP for 30ml R299.95) to your face and neck. The serum is enriched with high concentrations of the  Avène Thermal Spring Water which provides the skin with continuous hydration for 24 hours. What I like about this serum is that you can immediately feel it soothing dryness in your skin. My face feels less tight and my skin has a nice glow to it. The product absorbs quickly and does not leave any greasy feeling on your skin.

The new Avène Hydrating Skin Tone Perfector Light SPF30 (RSP for 40ml R199.95) is a moisturiers with a difference. It is formulated to hydrate Normal to Oily skin types while mattifying the appearance, creating the perfect base for makeup. An added bonus of this moisturiser is that it has mineral pigments in it to reflect light, blurs fine lines and hides imperfections. And yes, this is a moisturiers - not a foundation. When first applied to my skin, it has quite an orange tone to it but as I work it into my skin it sinks into my skin and gives me a really even, natural looking complexion. I like the look so much that I haven't used a foundation since getting this product.

The photo above has no filter applied to give you an idea of what the finish is like with the product on my skin. I don't have any foundation or concealer on either, just added some blush, mascara, eyeshadow and lipstick. I am so impressed with this product despite being for normal to oily skin types. I find that it definitely hydrates my skin well because along with all the great ingredients is the brand's Thermal Spring Water that is excellent at replenishing moisture and soothing skin. Then on top of all of this, it has an SPF of 30 - I really don't know how this product could get any better!  It is available in light and rich variants - the rich is for dry to very dry skin and is not mattifying. I am keen to get the Rich version to see the difference in finishes between the two. These products are available as of April 2017.

This three step process has helped improve the appearance of my skin and definitely has helped keep my skin well hydrated throughout the day and night. I definitely see myself purchasing all these products when they run out.

Avène products are available from Clicks and Dischem stores around the country.

    Big Hugs,
