• Preparing for Autumn

Autumn is here which means the cold, unforgiving weather is fast approaching.  Here is what I do to make sure I am ready for the coming months.

    Kick up the moisturising routine
I start exfoliating my skin 3 times a week and wear a hydrating mask for a few minutes.  The exfoliation ensures that the dead, dry skin is removed so that the hydrating mask can penetrate my skin.  This helps keep my skin looking bright and healthy.

    Get a hair cut
Trimming away sun and chlorine damage ensures I start the season off with healthy hair that will stay that way throughout the autumn and winter chill.  I always kick off the first month of Autumn using hair masks to ensure my hair gets the moisture it needs.  Living in Cape Town in winter means wet, cold weather so it's important to ensure hair is not dry and brittle else it will frizz.

Look after your hands, heels and elbows
Winter has a nasty way of drying my skin out and these areas show this immediately.  I use a light weight hand cream during the day and at night I switch to a more intense moisturiser for the areas that need a bit more TLC.

    Lips and cheeks
I know this is going to sound a little strange, but I use a tinted lipbalm on my lips and cheeks.  Not only does it moisturise and protect but it also adds a beautiful glow.

Hope these tips help.  I'd love to hear what you do to prepare yourself for winter.

    1. Think I have got those down! I have been stepping up my exfoliation, body scrubbing, using my Balm Balm a lot (the perfect dry skin TLC) and just got a haircut. I also adjust my makeup for paler winter skin, so pack away the bronzing products and make sure my foundation matches.

      1. I've never tried Blistex. I tend to lean towards Zambuk (Cherry scented) or my Elizabeth Arden 8 hour protectant stick

    5. Great tips!!
Preparing for winter is such a drag... lots of exfoliating the summer away, but it helps the moisture sink in too!
