    We all suffer from chapped lips from time to time but we do not always want to go out and buy more chapstick because if you’re anything like most people, you lose it almost instantaneously and that sucks. So, why not make your own chapstick that will work for you and you really can’t be afraid to lose because you really didn’t spend much money if any on it at all because you had the ingredients at home. Many remedies can be taken on the go or simply used at home for a quick fix of your dry lip problem. Some are more complex than others but most are very simple.

    Plain and Simple
    If you are one who is always on the go but hate the taste of chapsticks and want a more organic and sweet way to go about making your lips not be cracked and dry, just simply use honey a few times a day. Honey will soften your lips and make them look great.
    If you have really bad cracked lips and need them repaired for a big event or just relief you also can make a mixture of honey and glycerin for nighttime use. Wear this mixture overnight and wake up with refreshed lips in the morning.

    Coconut Oil
    If you are one who likes to just have plain and simple then this one is for you. Simply use coconut oil several times a day applied directly to your lips and it will heal your chapped lips. Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer and used as is can help with dry lips.
    Aloe
    Do you have a garden with an aloe plant in it? Well, if you do then this might help you if you suffer from dry lips. Aloe vera gel is very soothing and can help heal dry lips very quickly. Like coconut oil, aloe vera gel is a natural moisturizer.

    Castor Oil
    Castor oil, like coconut oil and aloe vera gel, are best in their natural form. They are all natural moisturizers and if applied several times daily can help treat dry lips and keep those pesky cracked lips from forming.

    Petroleum Jelly
    Run out of chapstick or just plain do not like it, well you can use vaseline or petroleum jelly as chapstick. It works just as good if not better. Petroleum jelly locks in moisture and makes your lips less dry and cracked. If you apply it several times a day it can heal dry lips fairly quick. Also, if applied with a little excess at night, it can help relieve any cracks in your lips and pain.
                                                   
    Sweet and Sugary Remedy
    If you have sugar and honey in your house, you can make this homemade cure for dry lips. All you need to do for this sweet and very useful remedy is mix two teaspoons of sugar with one teaspoon of honey and your mixture is done. After making the mixture, rub onto your lips and let the mixture sit for a few minutes. Then after a few minutes is done, use your finger to rub around on the mixture. This is to get any dead cells off and help keep your lips looking refreshed. Once you do this, wash the mixture off with warm water and your lips are as good as new!

    Rose Petals For Your Lips
    If you have roses handy, you just need a few petals, then this remedy will work wonders on your lips. First, wash off the rose petals very well, then soak them in milk for a few hours. After soaking the petals in milk you will want to grind them into a paste. Once you have made this paste you can use it as a chapstick, using it two to three times a day and before bed. Not only will it help your chapped lips, it can also give you a natural red hue to your lips.

          

    Cucumber
    If you have cucumbers handy, then this might just work for you. Grab a small piece of cucumber and rub it across your lips so that the moisture of the cucumber is left behind and your lips are well moistened. Leave this on your lips for ten to fifteen minutes. After the time is up, simply wash off with water. This leaves your lips filled with moisture and can help heal them faster if done a few times a day.

    Milk Cream
    Milk cream is high in fat which makes it a natural moisturizer, however this remedy you can’t leave on all day. This remedy you apply fresh milk cream to your lips for about ten minutes. After ten minutes, you will use a cotton ball that has been lightly dipped in warm water to wash off the cream. If you do this once daily it will help heal dry lips faster.
                           
    Water
    What many people do not know is, if that you have dry lips, you are probably dehydrated. Your lips are one of the first signs that show it. If you do not drink plenty of water you may suffer from dry, cracked lips. It is important to drink plenty of water and this might help your lips as well. Especially drink a glass of water before bed because water helps eliminate toxins that may be lurking in your body and cause sickness, cold sores, and other nasty things.

    Conclusion
    When it comes to dry lips, drink plenty of water. Water keeps you from being dehydrated and dehydration kills your lips. It is one of the first signs of dehydration. However, if the cold weather of allergies cause you to get dry lips and you do not like chapstick or are looking for an alternative to chapstick, these remedies will help cure and prevent dry lips from coming back. Many of these remedies can be used all throughout the day and taken with you. Some of these remedies are simply quick fixes overnight or just for at home use. Take care of your lips, drink plenty of fluids and keep them moisturized!
