We all suffer from
chapped lips from time to time but we do not always want to go out and buy more
chapstick because if you’re anything like most people, you lose it almost
instantaneously and that sucks. So, why not make your own chapstick that will
work for you and you really can’t be afraid to lose because you really didn’t
spend much money if any on it at all because you had the ingredients at home.
Many remedies can be taken on the go or simply used at home for a quick fix of
your dry lip problem. Some are more complex than others but most are very
simple.
Plain and
Simple
If you are one who
is always on the go but hate the taste of chapsticks and want a more organic
and sweet way to go about making your lips not be cracked and dry, just simply
use honey a few times a day. Honey will soften your lips and make them look
great.
If you have really
bad cracked lips and need them repaired for a big event or just relief you also
can make a mixture of honey and glycerin for nighttime use. Wear this mixture
overnight and wake up with refreshed lips in the morning.
Coconut Oil
If you are one who
likes to just have plain and simple then this one is for you. Simply use
coconut oil several times a day applied directly to your lips and it will heal
your chapped lips. Coconut oil is a natural moisturizer and used as is can help
with dry lips.
Aloe
Do you have a
garden with an aloe plant in it? Well, if you do then this might help you if
you suffer from dry lips. Aloe vera gel is very soothing and can help heal dry
lips very quickly. Like coconut oil, aloe vera gel is a natural moisturizer.
Castor Oil
Castor oil, like
coconut oil and aloe vera gel, are best in their natural form. They are all
natural moisturizers and if applied several times daily can help treat dry lips
and keep those pesky cracked lips from forming.
Petroleum
Jelly
Run out of
chapstick or just plain do not like it, well you can use vaseline or petroleum
jelly as chapstick. It works just as good if not better. Petroleum jelly locks
in moisture and makes your lips less dry and cracked. If you apply it several
times a day it can heal dry lips fairly quick. Also, if applied with a little
excess at night, it can help relieve any cracks in your lips and pain.
Sweet and
Sugary Remedy
If you have sugar
and honey in your house, you can make this homemade cure for dry lips. All you
need to do for this sweet and very useful remedy is mix two teaspoons of sugar
with one teaspoon of honey and your mixture is done. After making the mixture,
rub onto your lips and let the mixture sit for a few minutes. Then after a few
minutes is done, use your finger to rub around on the mixture. This is to get
any dead cells off and help keep your lips looking refreshed. Once you do this,
wash the mixture off with warm water and your lips are as good as new!
Rose Petals
For Your Lips
If you have roses
handy, you just need a few petals, then this remedy will work wonders on your
lips. First, wash off the rose petals very well, then soak them in milk for a
few hours. After soaking the petals in milk you will want to grind them into a
paste. Once you have made this paste you can use it as a chapstick, using it
two to three times a day and before bed. Not only will it help your chapped
lips, it can also give you a natural red hue to your lips.
Cucumber
If you have
cucumbers handy, then this might just work for you. Grab a small piece of
cucumber and rub it across your lips so that the moisture of the cucumber is
left behind and your lips are well moistened. Leave this on your lips for ten
to fifteen minutes. After the time is up, simply wash off with water. This
leaves your lips filled with moisture and can help heal them faster if done a
few times a day.
Milk Cream
Milk cream is high
in fat which makes it a natural moisturizer, however this remedy you can’t
leave on all day. This remedy you apply fresh milk cream to your lips for about
ten minutes. After ten minutes, you will use a cotton ball that has been
lightly dipped in warm water to wash off the cream. If you do this once daily
it will help heal dry lips faster.

What many people do
not know is, if that you have dry lips, you are probably dehydrated. Your lips
are one of the first signs that show it. If you do not drink plenty of water
you may suffer from dry, cracked lips. It is important to drink plenty of water
and this might help your lips as well. Especially drink a glass of water before
bed because water helps eliminate toxins that may be lurking in your body and
cause sickness, cold sores, and other nasty things.
