Luckily we managed to all take Friday off work so we left early the morning so that we could make most of the day there. We spent our days next to the river, watching the dogs swim then joining them in the river. Falling asleep on the grass under the tree then waking up for a braai. It was just what we needed - a break from everything!
During our stay in Great Brak River we looked for accommodation that was pet friendly so that we could take our dogs with. We found Milkwood Cottage online and immediately wanted to stay there. The cottage sleeps 6 guests, has 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and lounge area with DSTV. The garden has a braai area that has literally been carved into the forest. It is beautiful! The owner, Lara, is very welcoming and made sure we had what we needed. The cottage is private and feels secluded despite being in the middle of a quiet suburb. It is very centrally located and is a perfect "home base" for exploring the garden route.
We all had such a wonderful weekend - it truly was one of the very best weekends of my life. I loved the time with my family and it felt extra special because the whole family was there (Scamp and Milo included).
One thing I learned from this weekend, is that even when something feels like a mission to organise and you almost dread all the "admin" - sometimes you have to bite the bullet and just go.
Big Hugs,
