Nivea Express Hydration Hand Cream (RSP R28.99 for 75ml)
The Express Hydration cream is my favourite hand cream to use during the day while I am at work. It is absorbed very quickly and doesn't leave my hands with any greasy / oily film. This is important because I spend a lot of my day typing at a key board and writing notes so I can't have a layer of hand cream on my keyboard or paper. Although this is a light, fast absorbing hand cream does not mean that it lacks anything when it comes to moisturising your hands. Express Hydration has Hydra IQ moisture technology that activates the skin's natural hydration process. It also has sea minerals that makes your hands softer. I truly love using this hand cream and the refreshing fragrance does act as a "pick me up" when I am at work.
Nivea Anti-Age Q10 Plus Hand Cream (RSP R34.99 for 75ml)
The Anti Age cream is targeted to the treat aging skin on your hands with Co-enzyme Q10 which supports collagen production in the skin. The hand cream also contains UVA and UVB filters which makes this a great cream to use when you are out and about for the day. The hand cream is light in consistency, absorbs quickly and leaves a very thin film of the product on your skin. Although the product is noticeable on the skin it is not oily nor greasy. I like to use this on weekend when I know I am going to be out in the sun. This hand cream does cost the most but that is because of the anti-aging ingredients added to the product.
TIP: If you wear sandals I recommend applying some of the hand cream to the top of your feet where the skin is exposed to help moisturise and protect your skin from the sun.
Nivea Intensive Nourishing Hand Cream (RSP R28.99 for 75ml)
I don't have very dry hands but whenever I clean the house I do find that I need a hand cream that packs a big moisturing punch to get my hands back to how they normally are. The Intensive Nourishing cream is meant to treat dry skin but more than just treat the dryness, it works on building the skin's natural barriers to retain moisture within the skin. This is achieved through the use of Macadamia nut oil as well as Glycerine and Hydra IQ technology that works on the deeper layers of the skin cells. When I apply this to my hands after cleaning my hands immediately feel soothed and are a lot more smoother. This cream is light in consistency but leaves your skin with a very thin oily film that helps lock in the moisture. This isn't something that I like to use during the day because it is a little bit greasy feeling when you first apply it, but not in a way that it feels as though you have an oil slick on your hands. After about 15 minutes the oily film isn't all that noticeable at all. I like to use this hand cream to treat my hands when they need it and also in the evenings just before I get into bed.
TIP: Apply the excess product on your hands to the skin on the top part of your feet to keep your skin well moisturised.
This has turned out to be quite a long post about hand creams but I wanted to share how I use each of them because our skin does have different needs at different times, so it is good to use appropriate products to keep your hands in good condition.
These hand creams are available from Clicks, Dischem and at most pharmacies and supermarkets.
