• DIY Pore Strips

I love using pore strips because I detest blackheads and am always trying to keep them at bay.  I found this video on youtube and at first I couldn't really believe my eyes:
Being a bit skeptical, I thought I would test this out for myself to see if it really worked.  Here are my thoughts:

    1. I love how inexpensive this is.
The good pore strips I use are over R50 for 5 and when I am on a tighter budget then I go for the cheaper strips sold at Clicks and Dischem for around R30 for 10.  Those strips rarely clean out the pores as much as what I would hope for.  The only problem I had is trying to find jelly that was unflavoured.  I was unsuccessful so just used jelly I had at home.
    2. This works like a charm!
Not only does it clear all the pores out but it gets right into the corners of my nose and sticks down securely to the tip of my nose as well.  I get very annoyed when a pore strip won't stay stuck to the tip of my nose and doesn't get right into the corners.  Because the home made pore strip is brushed onto the skin in liquid form, you can make sure to get the coverage you want
    3. Quick and easy to use!
This dried a little quicker for me than what traditional pore strips do so it's something you can work into your weekly routine very easily.  You also aren't left with any sticky glue on your face after use.  If your nose still feels a little tacky all you need is a warm damp cloth to gently wipe it away.
    Word of warning!
If you have a powerful microwave wait for the solution to cool down.  I always test the heat out on the back of my hand before applying it to my face.  Better to have a slightly burnt hand than walking around with a sore, red nose for a few days.

I don't really subscribe to Youtube feeds but Michelle Phan's channel is filled with great makeup tutorials and other interesting videos.  You can check them all out here: Subscribe to Michelle's channel.

    2. I tried this last night and it worked really well. And you dont want unflavoured jelly, you want gellatine. Sold in the baking isle of all supermarkets.

      1. I used regular jelly because that is what I had in the cupboard and it worked for me because it has gelatin in it.
