• I'm back!

Hello! I'm back - sorry the blog has been so quiet and that I was M.I.A. I had a bit of a rough time these past 2 weeks.
Basically just over 2 weeks ago, I woke up on the Thursday morning with insect bites on my ankles. I didn't think too much about it. I went through Thursday feeling quite sluggish. On the Friday the bites were inflamed and suddenly while at work I felt so itchy all over. When I looked down at my hands they were covered in red bumps. So I headed home took Texa and hoped that it would help the reaction. The bumps spread across my feet, up my legs and were all over my arms and hands - it was very unpleasant and I felt out of sorts because of the itching. Anyway, I went about my day and the Saturday I kept busy to distract myself - went to Kamers with my sister and helped JP with some DIY stuff around the house.

That Sunday I did my usual afternoon workout - tried box jumps out for the first time - and on one of the jumps down I landed with my right foot skew. All my weight came down on the outside of my right joint and foot. Luckily JP and I work out together generally (or he is close by) so he got ice on it very quickly and held it on my foot while I cried. I cried out of frustration and anger at myself for not being more careful. As soon as I landed on my foot I knew I had hurt myself badly - I called to JP and was moaning a bit from the pain (I have quite a high pain threshold) but then when I tried to move my ankle and I realised what I had done I just burst into tears. Long story short - I went to the doctor the next day, had xrays and luckily it was just a really bad sprain with extensive soft tissue damage. My ankle and foot was MASSIVE! It looked like it didn't belong on me. Then it started going yellow and the big blue bruises started to appear - it was really a sight to behold. On top of that the insect bites on the back of my ankle and allergic reaction to it was also all over the place - I was not a pretty sight! I still have some of the bumps on my foot and hands. The doctor said she wasn't sure what bite me but something got into my blood stream and caused the reaction.

So I've taken the two weeks to recover and look after myself. JP and my sister, Samantha, have been incredible at looking after me. I haven't been able to really move around and have been so reliant on them to get stuff for me and help me in general - I don't know how I would have coped without them.

I am back to blogging and it felt so good being back at the keyboard sharing my thoughts with you. I have 2 weeks of posts lined up. Monday, Wednesday and Friday will have some long overdue pressdrop reviews and some stuff I have purchased myself. I hope you enjoy it. I actually have a lot of products that I've been trying but I am not sure if I want to feature them.

Professionally, I submitted a proposal for consideration to present at the Business Analysis Summit of South Africa in September this year. The panel is sitting this weekend to assess all the submissions. I am holding thumbs that my proposal is accepted because I really want to present again this year after missing last year.

Anyway, this was just to let you know that I'm back and there are so posts to look forward to.

Have a great rest of your weekend.

    Big Hugs,
    Charlene XXX
