• My at home facial routine | Part 2

After exfoliation it is always important to follow with a mask. My mask of choice is the Age Smart Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque.  When writing this post I was actually surprised to discover that I hadn't actually shared this mask on my blog before. Especially considering I am on my third tube already.

This mask contains vitamins A, C, E and F which helps with skin ageing, dehydration and skin damage. The vitamins also help shield the skin from free radicals. There is also Algae Extract to moisturise and soften the skin as well as Pro-vitamin B5 to nourish skin. On top of all of this is Licorice, comfrey and burdock to clam, soothe and decrease sensitivity. It is difficult to sum this mask up but it truly is great. It helps to plump up my skin, reduces fine lines and calms any skin irritations I sometimes experience. This mask is R850 for 75ml which might seem like a lot but this mask lasts over 5 months because I don't need too much too coat my skin. I also supplement this mask with other ones to treat my different skin needs at the time. I'll cover that more a bit later in this post.

The main aim of a mask is to give your skin an intensive treatment to help treat your skin concerns.  When choosing a mask it is best to think about what you are trying to treat or improve - be it hydration, anti ageing, acne, pigmentation, etc. Do your research online and check your budget. I try to buy the most effective product at a price point that is acceptable to me. I know that a face mask will last me a few months so I tend to spend more on this type of product. I know my skin is ageing so that is one thing I treat but I also battle with dehydration so I have tried a few masks to help with it.

To supplement my skin care routine, I use some sheet masks to help distribute costs but also to treat my various skin concerns. So on days where I feel particularly dehydrated, I'll use a hydrating sheet mask (read how I use them here) or the Aquamemory moisture replenishing face mask from Gatineau (click here to read that review) but at least once a week I do an intensive treatment using a good quality multi-purpose face mask, like the one I have covered in this post.

    Big Hugs,
