• The Body Shop | Shea Body Scrub

In winter I find that my skin actually needs a lot more TLC than in summer, which seems rather backwards because summer time means you are out in the sun more and more of your skin is exposed.  I have always been a firm believer in proper skin preparation as part of my skin care routine. Exfoliating is one of my absolute favourite steps in my skin care routine. I love the feeling of getting rid of the dead skin cells and being left with soft, smooth skin.  Initially when I went to my local The Body Shop store I was looking for their Grapefruit scrub but when I saw Shea body scrub I just had to get it.

The Shea scrub is a really comforting smell that reminds me of  a nutty chocolate smell for some reason. The scrub is made up of salt and sugar which are mixed together with oils to exfoliates your skin.

I like a scrub that is rather rough because I really like to get the smoothest "finish" on my skin. I find that this scrub works very well at polishing my skin and is especially good on areas such as my elbows and knees.  This scrub is meant for people with very dry skin so after use your body will have a film of Shea and Soy oil on your skin.  At first this might feel a bit greasy but once you've dried off you don't feel greasy at all. There is an oil film left on your skin but it isn't very noticeable nor uncomfortable. The oil film helps lock the moisture in your skin leaving you with soft, smooth skin.

I love the quality and affordability of The Body Shop products.  A lot of my staple products come from their product offerings and their scrubs are definitely great quality.  I paid R150 for my tub but when I plan better, I am able to pick these up for 50% off or take advantage of their 3 for 2 specials.

PS. Be careful when using this in the bath or shower, as with all oil products, the surfaces become very slippery and you can fall.  I find that using Handy Andy afterwards helps break down the oily residue and next time you shower / bath you won't have any oil left on the surfaces.
