• Copenhagen | Church of our Saviour Spire

I am SO HAPPY it is Friday. This week has felt incredibly long and I just haven't been in a good mood - I don't know if it is the cold weather or just because it is such a long time until I get a holiday again. Anyway, on to something some upbeat. I am going so share a bit more of my Copenhagen trip today. The one afternoon we decided to climb to the top of the Church of our Saviour Spire.
One thing I absolutely loved doing was climbing all the towers we were allowed to climb, This one in particular I wanted to climb because many of the 400 steps to the very top of the spire are on the outside of the building, so you get a really great 360 degree view of the city skyline from all different heights.  I managed to squeeze right onto the very last step.
Since the serpentine spire was inaugerated in 1752, it has been a very popular tourist attraction.  More than 60000 people climb to the top of the 90m tall spire. This spire is one of Denmark's most famous churches and has been voted as the best viewpoint to take in Copenhagen's city skyline.

The climb on the inside of the spire was also tricky because the stairs were very narrow and steep but I like these kinds of things so I had a great time (despite not being the fittest person and having a bum knee from my netball days).
After writing this post, I can definitely see that my rather sombre mood is because I miss being on holiday and being away from the normal pressures of everyday life.  I'm sure I'll snap out of it, I haven't even been back home for a month yet. I guess I have caught the travel bug and will forever be infected!

Have a wonderful day everyone and enjoy the weekend ahead.

    Big Hugs,
    Charlene XXX

PS. I don't know why but I didn't take many photos of the outside of the church to properly showcase the spire and how beautiful the church is. I found this one on Google images:

Oh and it is also JP and my 8 month "anniversary"! Can't believe it's almost a year since our wedding day!
