• Copenhagen | Copenhagen Zoo

Today I am going to share a few photos from Copenhagen Zoo. JP and I spent an entire day there and I took a ton of photos. Again I struggled to choose only a few photos to share so the post is going to be photo heavy again.

The Copenhagen Zoo was opened in 1859 which makes it one of the oldest zoos in Europe. The zoo houses over 3000 animals. The zoo tower was built in 1905, it is a wooden observation tower with a base similar to the Eiffel tower. At 43.5m in height, it is one of the highest wooden tower in the world. It gives people great views of the zoo and surrounding areas. Our holiday seemed to involve a lot of climbing of stairs to the top of towers, but the views are always worth the climb (and in this case the extra 10 DKK to climb to the top).
My favourite part of the zoo was the Arctic Ring. It houses two beautiful polar bears in a fantastic enclosure that has a glass tunnel that allows you to watch the polar bears swim.

It was really hard leaving the polar bears, I could've sat there the whole day watching them but there were so many amazing animals to see. Here are some of my favourite photos.

I loved our day in Copenhagen Zoo, it was truly such a unique experience. I can't say that I like that animals are kept in enclosures for our enjoyment, but I do also acknowledge that many of them need a safe place to live so zoos play an important part. Copenhagen Zoo is definitely the best zoo I have ever been to.
