• Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet Foundation

My Chanel Collection is slowly starting to grow.  Recently I purchased the new Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet foundation.  To keep the post short, this review is not really going to be too much about the details of the product but more about my experience of using it.  Visit the Chanel website for all the product details.
The foundation is water based and comes in a plastic bottle.  I personally love that it comes in a plastic bottle because it means I can easily take it with me in my handbag if I need to..  The foundation is quite watery in consistency which makes it easy to spread across your skin.  A tiny bit of this goes a very long way.  The amount I have on my hand in the photo is enough to cover the centre of my face and chin.

My skin soaks up the foundation almost immediately which means one needs to work a little quickly when applying this or in sections.  I find that using finger tips is easier for this watery foundation and you get a streak free finish (Yay for not having to wash my foundation brush everyday).  Once applied it is incredibly light weight and has a second skin finish that is matte.  I love the velvety finish of this and how it makes my skin look absolutely flawless.  Not only does it hide imperfections but it adds radiance to your skin.  For those who like a dewy look, I don't think you will like the finish of this.  So it is just something to consider before purchasing this.  I don't have oily skin, but I did read a few reviews from other bloggers who said that as the day wore on they did have a bit of a dewy look to their skin but it wasn't awfully oily looking.

This acts as a great base for makeup and you'll find things like your blush lasts a lot longer when applied over the foundation.  Another thing I liked is that it's finish doesn't interfere with concealer.  I was worried that my hydrating Dior concealer would contrast badly with the matte finish of this foundation but luckily I don't experience that at all.  The times I find something looks a little too dewy ontop of this foundation, I simply pat on a little bit of translucent face powder.

I love this foundation and definitely will be purchasing another one when this bottle is finished.  If I remember correctly this foundation was just over R550, which I thought was quite reasonable for a high end foundation.

Let me know what your thoughts are.

    Big Hugs,
    Charlene XXX
